【摘要】:ThepurposeofthispartofIEC61300istocharacterizetherobustnessofafibreopticpassivecomponentorinterconnectingdeviceagainstdamagefromexposuretoopticalpower.Specifically,theobjectivesareto:?characterizeboththeshorttermandthelongtermrobustnessofcomponentsfromdamageduetoopticalpowerinduceddegradationorfailuremechanisms;?providedatanecessarytoensurethatcomponentsareexposedtoappropriateopticalpowerlevelsthatwillnotdegradetheirperformance;?identifycomponentspronetoirreversibledegradation.Thetestproceduredescribedinthisstandardisstructuredsuchthat,ifthe'fullcharacterization'optionisperformed,thecomponentwillbecharacterizedwithouttheneedforre-testingshouldfutureapplicationschange.Forexample,onewaytoapproachtheissueofopticalpowercharacterizationistotestacomponentataspecificpowerlevelandwavelengthtowhichthecomponentwillbeexposedinaspecificapplication.Whiletestingofthecomponentatthatpower/wavelengthmayindicatetherobustnessofthecomponentinthatspecificapplication,ifthecomponentisconsideredforanotherapplication,thetestswillneedtobeperformedagainatotherpowers/wavelengths.However,ifthecomponentisfullycharacterizedatallrelevantwavelengths,andthemaximumpowerhandlinglevelatthosewavelengthsisidentified,thenalltheinformationrequiredtoassessthesuitabilityofthecomponentinanyapplicationisavailable.Theresultsofthefullcharacterizationtestmethodinthisstandardwillbearatingofthecomponentundertest.Thisratingformsthebasisofdeterminingthepowerlevelstowhichthecomponentcanbeexposedinareliablemanner.Itessentiallydefinesthe"operatingregionenvelope"forthecomponent.Sincetherewilloftenbeconstraints(thatis,time,cost,equipmentavailability)thatlimittheabilitytoperformthefullcharacterization,alternativetestmethodsareoutlinedinthisstandardthatperformonlyasubsetofthefulltest.Thetestmethodscontainedinthisstandardareintendedtoassesstherobustnessofcomponentsintheirnormaluseconditionsforwhichtheyweredesigned.
