【摘要】:Theestimationiscarriedoutbyacetylationoftheessentialoilbyacetylchlorideandaceticanhydride,inthepresenceofdimethylaniline.Theacetylatedoilisisolatedanddriedandtheestervalueisdetermined.Thefreealcoholscontentiscalculatedtakingintoaccounttheestervaluesofthesamebutnon-acetylatedessentialoil.Thismethodisapplicabletoessentialoilscontaininganappreciableproportionoftertiaryalcohols,namelyoflinalolandterpineol.Itisnotapplicabletoessentialoilscontainingappreciableproportionsofphenols,anthranilates,lactonesandaldehydes.
